For a long time if someone asked me what my favorite cigar was I could not really point to a single one that I could always smoke above all the others. Now that I tried the Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 I know I have found my personal best to date! This cigar is truly a classic and I can see why it has been a favorite to many a mild-medium cigar smokers. I smoked this on the 4th of July, resting by the pool with a lovely woman in my arms and a cold Baileys in my hand. Couldn’t have chosen a better combination
. The cigar looked really beautiful, but I had seen other cigars that looked good, but ended up tasting awful and wasn’t quick to make any judgments. The pre-light draw was very smooth with a cedar-ish tone to it. The cigar lit very easily and quickly and had an immediate perfect draw with lots of smoke. I was amazed by the smoothness of the start. The first few puffs brought in a very creamy and smooth light tobacco flavor in my mouth. The burn was great and very even – something that did not change till the very end. The main more-distinct flavor (than the tobacco of course
) was of cedar. I felt no real spice or pepper and by the way the smoke felt in my mouth would classify this cigar more on the milder side of medium bodied cigars. The experience of the Rocky Patel was very consistent throughout the smoke and I liked it (hence the good variability score). The strongest flavor could be felt towards the end of the second third with the cigar being again creamy afterwards. The construction of the cigar was flawless and I had no problems with it whatsoever. Even the cap which I usually massacre with my awful cutter stayed perfectly in tact. At the end I knew I could enjoy this great cigar at any time during the day. I would definitely recommend this cigar to anybody who would like to enjoy a great tasting and smooth cigar experience! For more questions please comment and would definitely love to elaborate on this smoke. Smoke time: 75 mins.
